Our new parish baptismal font was delivered and installed in our baptistry on the morning of January 20, 2021 by Joey Marcella and the crew from Mario and Sons, Inc.
Sacred Heart Church will soon receive a new baptismal font, presently under construction at Mario & Sons in the Spokane Valley. The new font will visually connect with our beautiful altar as it is being constructed of the same marble, "Altissimo" as the altar and will incorporate some of the same design features.

The December 5, 2019 edition of The Spokesman-Review featured a fine article about our church and the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of its dedication.

Our new church bathrooms have doubled in size and been completely renovated over the summer thanks to the generous donations of so many parishioners to the 50th Anniversary Fund! They are now fully-ADA compliant so even our parishioners with walkers and wheelchairs have a place "to go" while attending Mass or other events in our church. Our thanks to Elmer Construction for doing a great job with a difficult renovation. Air conditioning work is also now complete. Pro-Mechanical was the contractor for the HVAC work.
After nearly two years of planning and designing, Sacred Heart Church took delivery on Friday, Dec 14, 2018, of a newly constructed ambo (the lectern from which the Scriptures are proclaimed) and presider's chair for our sanctuary. They were blessed for use in our church the following Sunday by Father Kevin Codd They were designed by Joey Marcella of Mario and Sons Stone & Marble in Liberty Lake, WA, under the direction of Father Kevin, our pastor. The new sanctuary furnishings were paid for by an anonymous donor and member of the parish.

At Friday night's Catholic Charities Gala, our Sacred Heart parishioner, Michael Phalen, was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award! Mike has been a member of Sacred Heart since his birth and serves the parish in many ways, most especially by keeping tabs on our buildings and making sure they are well-maintained. Mike has been on a very special mission over the past year to collect used bedding and other useful textiles and prepare them for reuse in many Catholic Charities facilities and those of other area charities. His dedication to serving the poor through this and other ministries in Spokane makes his award from Catholic Charities very well deserved, indeed! Congratulations, Mike, and THANK YOU!
Father Kevin spent two weeks in August visiting the people of Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán in Guatemala, where he spent a year as a young priest. Click on the link in the article and enjoy a brief video of his stay there!
