Our parish thrives on the involvement of its parishioners in its wide variety of ministries. Our parish committees assist our pastor along with our Pastoral Council and Finance Council in providing direction, animation, and evaluation of our programs and activities.
To contact the leaders of these committees, please call the Parish Office, 509-747-5810 or email us at [email protected]. Please just write into the Subject line the name of the committee you wish to contact.
The Sacred Heart Parish Liturgy Committee assists our pastor in planning, executing, and evaluating the liturgical life of our parish community. It meets monthly during the school year and its membership is made up of persons involved in liturgical leadership or who have a particular expertise in some aspect of the liturgy.
The Liturgy Committee serves under the auspices of the Pastoral Council.
The Social Ministry Committee was formed by the Pastoral Council in 2015 to coordinate the various efforts of our parish to serve the poor, assist local social agencies, support global efforts to promote justice and end poverty, and educate our community about the many needs and opportunities there are to make a difference in our world.
Among the many projects that the Social Ministry Committee has been overseeing since its establishment are these:
Our parish Hospitality Committee schedules and plans a variety of opportunities for our parishioners and guests to gather and spend "quality time" together as friends and fellow believers.
We sponsor Coffee and Doughnuts following most Sunday morning Masses in our Social Hall as well as ocassional Wine and Cheese socials after the Saturday evening Masses.
Our committee also plans special events like our Chili & Bingo night in January and the annual Harvest Dinner in November.
Our parish's Religious Formation Committee is responsible for evaluating our parish''s various formation and education programs for children, young people, and adults and planning new initiatives to effectively share and deepen the faith lives of all our parishioners.
The Building and Grounds Committee assists the Pastoral Council, Finance Council, and Pastor in evaluating the needs of our parish campus and suggests necessary fixes and improvements.
The Committee also oversees parish "work days" in which parishioners can invest some "sweat equity" into the parish through easily accomplished tasks that not only help keep up our property, but also build community among our parishioners.
