Sacred Heart Church is now celebrating public Mass once a week, each Saturday at 5:00 pm.
Attendees are expected to register for each Mass in advance.
The "rules" for attendance during this time of pandemic are as follows:
Observe All Safety Precautions: We will observe all safety precautions as mandated by the Diocese of Spokane, the Spokane Regional Health District, and the State of Washington. Among these are:
The use of masks is required by all for the entirety of their presence on church property, including outside.
Strict social distancing is to be observed outside and within the church for the entirety of the service, including “gathering” and “departing”.
There will be no congregational singing.
Holy Communion will be distributed to attendees in the pews and only in the hand. Masks are to remain on until the deacon/eucharistic minister have moved six feet beyond those receiving, then the mask may be lowered and the consecrated host consumed.
Only one person at a time will be allowed in the lavatories.
Doors will be left open during the liturgy as much as possible. The air-conditioning system has been adjusted to utilize 50% fresh-air from outside.
Pre-register: Pre-registration for each liturgy is requested and a list of attendees will be maintained for thirty days to allow for contact tracing if we were to learn someone attended who later tested positive for COVID-19.
The parish will contact all attendees in such a case and urge them to be tested themselves.
Parishioners may pre-register to attend in one of the following manners:
By responding to our Flocknotes invitation to pre-register.
By phoning the parish office, 509-747-5810, then press #5.
In each case, your name, a return phone number or email address, and the number of persons attending in your family group must be included. We will confirm your registration following reception of your request.
Pre-registration will open each week on Monday at 9:00 am and close on Friday at 1:00 pm.
Attendees will be checked-in as they enter the church through the main doors.
Vulnerable? Though we will do everything possible to minimize risk, we cannoteliminate risk. Therefore, persons who are in vulnerable or high-risk categories are asked NOT to attend the public celebration of Mass. Remember that Bishop Daly’s dispensation from Sunday Mass continues; there is no requirement to attend Mass at this time.
