At the weekend Masses on June 5-6, 2021, Father Kevin announced to ou
r parish community that he would be retiring with his final weekend with us being September 25-26, 2021.
Father Kevin has been pastor of Sacred Heart Church since June, 2015. In August of this year, he will have completed 42 years of active ministry in locations throughout the Diocese of Spokane and several years outside the country.
During his years at Sacred Heart, he has worked closely with the parish Pastoral Council and the various committees of the parish to build up our parish family in numerous ways. A reorganization of the Pastoral Council in his first year has made that consultative body more effective and better able to develop and realize the strategic plans of the parish. He also dedicated much energy into developing our parish liturgical life with the help of our Liturgy Committee. In recent years, he oversaw the design and crafting of a new ambo, presidential chair, and baptismal font for our church.
Father Kevin has made it a priority to regularly visit our elderly parishioners who are homebound. He has served as the lead pastor on the Cataldo School Board of Governors for the past two years.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Father Kevin kept in touch with us through livestreamed Masses and evening reflections from his home.
Though he will be greatly missed, as a parish family, our community will continue to grow under new leadership and pastoral care.
