Each Monday at 11:00 a.m. a group of parishioners meets in the upper level of the parish center for a time of contemplative prayer under the direction of Jan Eberley.
Jan provides insights and instruction about prayer; live or recorded sacred music sets the tone; and we listen to a text from a classical or contemporary spiritual writer. We then enter a quiet, receptive space as handmaids of the Word to listen to the Spirit. Contemplation is not about solving problems or seeking answers, but allowing space for God's Spirit to touch the heart. The Word can be heard only in silence. This time of quiet is followed by a scripture text, usually from the Mass of the following Sunday. After each of us has the opportunity to share whatever word or phrase spoke to us, we gather our intentions in prayers of petition and thanksgiving.
You are welcome to this peaceful time and space that lasts about 90 minutes.
The fruit of silence is prayer.
The fruit of prayer of faith.
The fruit of faith is love.
The fruit of love is service.
(Blessed Mother Theresa)
Scripture Share & Prayer-- We are a faith-sharing group of women who gather weekly to focus on God's Word and God's Life among us. We pray with daily & upcoming Sunday readings, and share faith reflections together. We meet on Thursday mornings (September to mid-November and January to April), from 9:30 to 11:30AM, in the Parish Center.
Our common booklet is, Give Us This Day: Daily Prayer For Today’s Catholic. It is a monthly periodical from Liturgical Press, and each participant is encouraged to order their own individual subscription, at $39.95 for a full year (12 issues).
